Get support from Maggie's Here at The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, we are very proud to work closely with Maggie's, a charity which has traditionally supported people affected by cancer. Thanks to our partnership, people affected by aplastic anaemia, including both people living with the disease and their families are now able to access all of their support and services that Maggie's offer. What support can Maggie's provide? Maggie's offers a wide range of support to enable people affected by aplastic anaemia to live their lives as best as possible, despite their diagnosis. For example, each centre has an in-house Benefits Advisor, who can offer support and advice around eligibility for welfare benefits and financial support, and assist with the application process. There are also psychologists at each centre, who can offer support to maintain your emotional and mental wellbeing, should you need it. Here are just a few of the things that Maggie's can help with: Benefits advice Support to maintain emotional and mental wellbeing, on a 1-1 basis or in a group Support with practical matters, such as managing fatigue, dietary changes, and managing stress and uncertainty Support and friendship groups All of the support that Maggie's provides is completely free of charge. How can I access support at Maggie's? There are lots of Maggie's Centres across the UK, often near to the major hospitals where people with aplastic anaemia receive their treatment. They offer a friendly, welcoming and safe space, and you will be made very welcome. You can find your nearest Maggie's Centre by clicking on the button below. Find a Maggie's Centre You don't need to make an appointment or need a referral to visit a Maggie's Centre to see what's on offer. Many of their services operate on a drop-in basis, however, for some of them, you may need to book an appointment. Your local centre will be able to help you with this. Alternatively, if you are unsure whether Maggie's are able to help you, or feel a bit nervous about making those first steps, feel free to get in touch with our Support and Outreach Team, and we'd be more than happy to discuss the support that is available, and, with your permission, pass on your details to your nearest centre. What if there isn't a Maggie's Centre near to me? Don't worry - many centres offer some of their support virtually as well. For example, if there isn't a centre near to you, it is often possible to arrange for a Benefits Advisor to support you over the phone, or via video call. You are very welcome to contact your nearest centre to arrange this yourself, or our Support and Outreach Team can request this for you.
