Almost two years ago my partner was unfortunately diagnosed with aplastic anemia and it completely changed our lives. Luckily he was able to receive treatment and is recovering very well, and The Aplastic Anemia Trust was a great help throughout the process - especially in understanding what AA really is. My brother and I will be running a 10K to raise funds to help others affected with this illness and to fund further research.

What is Aplastic Anemia?
AA is a serious and life-threatening illness where your bone marrow fails to produce blood cells. It affects 2 out of a million people yearly in the UK and it is mainly caused by the immune system attacking the stem cells in the bone marrow. It can be treated with: blood transfusions, stem cell transplants, immunosuppressants, and chemotherapy.

Why your donation is important?
Your donation will help fund research into new potential treatment plans that will improve the quality of life for patients. The money will also ensure there always is someone on the other end of a phone, providing information and support for patients and their families. It also will be used to connect people who are going through this illness. Karolina Bugajska
