If you're living with a condition and being supported by any of the charities listed below, whether you have a rare condition yourself or you're supporting a close family member, it can be challenging to think about how to move forward following significant treatment, or when treatment is life-long.  Co-created by members of the 6 charities listed below, this course is designed to help you move beyond diagnosis and treatment, and into the life that matters to you.

What does this involve?

Living the life that matters to us is key to everyone's emotional wellbeing.  But following significant treatment or when treatment is life long, this isn't always easy. People are faced with physical, psychological and practical hurdles that at first feel unsurmountable. This course is designed - with the help of people with bone marrow conditions - to help you overcome these hurdles and thrive in the ways you wish.

To join the course, you will need access to the internet to join the 7 Zoom sessions (dates below). Ideally you will also need WhatsApp, to join the discussion group and keep in contact with your tutor. We will add you to the WhatsApp group using the number you provide when you register. If you don't have WhatsApp or need technical support, please feel free to give our support line a ring on 0300 102 3202.

About Maria Mullan

Maria is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in physical health, providing person-centred psychological support for patients and carers through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

Maria has worked in both NHS and third sector psychology services across Greater Manchester, supporting people with a wide range of physical health problems including cancer, diabetes, pain, heart conditions and renal disease.

She enjoys providing 1:1 support to patients and carers, facilitating group interventions and delivering training and supervision for staff teams.

Maria is passionate about empowering individuals and systems to navigate through the challenges of living with a physical health problem, supporting people to find joy, meaning and purpose in their lives.

The group helps you to deal with the fact that your plans from before the disease go away and you need to collect the pieces. I also learned how to deal with feelings of guilt and to understand that you come first. I became so much more confident...you feel that you are valid and it is normal to feel in a certain way.  Feedback from previous support sessions with Maggie's Psychologists
