Coffee, Cake and Chat event in Southampton with Lorraine Come along to our new Coffee, Cake and Chat event in the Maggie’s Centre Southampton. Enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake in the company of other people affected by rare bone marrow failures and chat with other people who understand what it is like to live with such a rare disease. Come and meet Lorraine, our Support and Outreach Project Manager, and Sophie, our Better Together Project Manager at Maggie's in Southampton! Whether you, or someone close to you has been newly diagnosed with a rare bone marrow failure condition, or you have been living with one for quite some time, this is a great opportunity to meet other people who are affected by rare bone marrow failures. Everyone is welcome, and you don't need to have attended any previous events or have spoken to us before. Just come along and say hello! There's no need to register or let us know in advance, just drop by on the day for a cuppa and a chat. Meet Lorraine Lorraine joined the team in May 2025 as the Support and Outreach Programme Manager. She brings have a wealth of management experience in the charity sector having spent many years managing support and advice services for adults and children with learning and physical disabilities. More recently she worked for a military charity and a local branch of Home-Start where she set up and managed information and advice services that supported people and families with a wide range of needs. Lorraine is a passionate advocate of the person-centred approach and strives to ensure that everyone understands their rights and is empowered with the knowledge and skills to advocate for themselves and their family member while living with Aplastic Anaemia. Lorraine lives on Hayling Island near Portsmouth and in her spare times loves making her own clothes (which are often quite colourful) and making gifts for family and friends. Meet Sophie Sophie is the Better Together Project Manager, and is responsible for managing the alliance of four rare bone marrow failure charities in the Better Together for Healthy Bone Marrow Alliance - The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, DC Action, Fanconi Hope and SDS UK.
