What are steroids?
‘Steroid’ is a word that describes a set of chemicals that work in lots of different ways to keep your body healthy. Your body makes its own steroids, but they can also be made somewhere else so they can be given to you as tablets or liquid, or maybe in an injection. Steroids are an important part of keeping you safe and stopping you from feeling poorly while you have anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) treatment for aplastic anaemia.
