This factsheet is for children who have aplastic anaemia.

What is aplastic anaemia?

Aplastic anaemia is a strange-sounding name for the reason you are feeling poorly right now.

In the middle of your big bones is something called bone marrow. This is where your blood cells are made. In aplastic anaemia, bone marrow doesn’t make enough blood cells for your body to stay healthy.

What’s in this factsheet?

This factsheet tells you a bit more about bone marrow and aplastic anaemia. It explains what aplastic anaemia is, the things you might notice or feel if you have it, and what can be done to help.
