Talking to your child about their aplastic anaemia - printed booklet

This advice sheet is for parents and carers of children and young people with aplastic anaemia.

We know that as a parent, you are the primary expert when it comes to your child, and the best person to talk to them about aplastic anaemia. Their medical team is of course vital when it comes to diagnosis, treatment and other support, but you understand the best ways to communicate information with your child, as well as the help they might need to process and understand this. This advice sheet can help you to talk with your child, in a way that works for you both.

What’s in this advice sheet?

This advice sheet has been put together with the help of children and young people who have been through aplastic anaemia, and their families. Using their top tips and experiences, it looks at things you might need to talk about with your child throughout their diagnosis and treatment, and what you can do to make this easier. It explains why talking is important, and how open conversations can help your child understand and come to terms with their condition.
