Transfusions - printed booklet

What is in this booklet?

Transfusions are used to treat the symptoms of aplastic anaemia, such as low red blood cells and platelets, with blood and platelet transfusions, and anti-microbial medication to prevent and treat infections.

Most patients with aplastic anaemia who need treatment will require blood transfusions. This booklet explains why they are needed, how they help and what some of the more common side effects are.

Thank you to St James' Hospital Haematology Team in Leeds for their expertise in developing this booklet.
