Joe’s Run Donate Aplastic Anaemia is a rare life-threatening auto-immune disease that stops the bone marrow from producing blood. The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK focused solely on aplastic anaemia. My brother in law Nick was diagnosed with this ultra rare disease in 2019 and has since received treatment to help him live a better life. What sets the Aplastic Anaemia trust apart from other charities is that they offer peer to peer support; networks for everyone affected by the disease, whether that be the person diagnosed but also their family and how to support someone going through treatment. My sister Rachel found it really reassuring to talk to those in a similar situation to herself and see their successes and progress. It also supports those who may have lost their loved one through this disease. With aplastic anaemia being so rare, often people may find it difficult to find a donor match, and the charity helps to find matches across the world who may be able to save a life. They bring failed bone marrow back to life! Joe Kibble Manage Cookie Preferences
