I had never heard of Aplastic Anaemia until my Mam was diagnosed with it. Unfortunately the survival rate is low and to date there is no known cure. Treatment can be intense and exhausting.
After loosing my Mam I took to running to help me deal with life without her. I found it cleared my head and gave me the strength to focus and carry on. I set myself a goal to complete the 40th Anniversary Great North Run in her memory but unfortunately Covid hit and it wasn't meant to be.
Sadly in December 2020 I also lost my Dad. Dealing with the loss of both parents hit our family hard.
Myself and my husband Jimmy along with our daughter Sophie are finally getting to run the 40th Anniversary GNR and Junior run, only this time in memory of both my parents to raise much needed funds in aid of Aplastic Anaemia.
Any donation big or small will go towards research on how to treat the awful illness.
Thank you for your support
