Recovery will take time

Recovery from aplastic anaemia can take a long time. So be prepared.

Try not to get better too quickly or stress about it. It took time but I just went with it. I slept when I needed to, I went for walks, laughed, hugged my daughter and loved ones. Spent time with people I enjoyed spending time with and it just happened.

  • Above all - stay positive
  • Have faith and lots of patience, recovery is a long road
  • Enjoy the company of your loved ones
  • Try and go for walks, but don’t rush it - recovery is hard and slow work
  • Try and avoid environments where you may get an infection - for example, nursery, the tube
  • Listen to your doctor's advice but don't be afraid to ask questions or raise concerns
  • Trust your body
