Where is the walk taking place?

The stunning Derbyshire is the setting for our annual Peak District Walk. This 8-mile all-family walk takes place in some of the most stunning scenery in the Peak District National Park. It was here that the brave crews of 617 Squadron trained in their specially adapted Lancaster bombers for their epic raid on the Ruhr dams in May 1943. Remember the Dambusters movie? It was filmed here, in the Upper Derwent Valley.

In its fourth year, this charity walk will start and finish at the now legendary, warm and welcoming Yorkshire Bridge Inn. It will follow the designated walking route around the east of Ladybower Reservoir up to Fairholmes, and will return via the west of Ladybower Reservoir and back to The Yorkshire Bridge Inn where there will be pulled pork rolls (or a suitably yummy veggie alternative) to indulge in and an opportunity to mingle with lots of like-minded people over a drink or two.

Car parking will be at The Yorkshire Bridge Inn, Heatherdene and in a local resident's field.

Participants will be directed to the cafe at Fairholmes as the half way point refreshment facility.

Why walk for the AAT?

This walk will provide you with plenty of opportunity to meet people with experience of aplastic anaemia, enjoy the great Derbyshire outdoors and work up a healthy appetite for when the walk is completed! It's also an opportunity for you to raise money for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust so that we can carry on funding patient support and research into this devastating rare bone marrow failure. You can download a sponsorship form here and send it back to us, along with donations, following the walk.

National Park Rangers will join us on our walk and will be able to tell you all about this fascinating location.

You can see the spectacular pictures from our hugely successful walk last year, in 2019 - here.
